A vital social space and cultural institution serving as a hub for connection, self-expression, political discourse and empowerment. In honor of the social impact provided by barber shops in Georgia we have assembled a league for the chess players that are an integral part of the barber shop experience.
RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
1. Each barber shop assembles a team of 5 chess players. team members must consist of barbers and regular patrons. This rule is enforced on an honor system and integrity is expected amongst men.
2. Tournaments are hosted at local barbershops.
3. There is a fee for a year's participation to cover the cost of venue, sets, clocks, custom trophy to winners etc.
(per team member per tournament season $40.00)
4. Season winners will have to defend there tittle in the new season.
5. Chess games are played (touch move, touch take) either by chess clock (agreed upon mutually by the two competing teams)
with each win being counted as a team win.
6. At the end of 3 rounds of game play the total wins for each team are tabulated with the wining team being due to the most checkmates.
7. At the end of the season the teams with the most wins will be awarded season chess team champions. Second and third place winners are awarded also.
